Online security is a very important topic for me. Everyday their seems to be another security breach into big databases with alot of sensitive personal information. Such as Yahoo and Equifax as just two examples. I’ve always had the of perspective that my life is my responsibility and no one else’s. Part of that responsibility is my online security and safety. Which is why i have taken the time to research and learn about things like SSH, encryption, public and private key pairs, etc. These topics are especially important if you run your own business through an e-commerce website and have customers personal information stored in your database. When i uploaded and deployed my first personal website i used SFTP to transfer my files to my live server hosting account. I didn’t have any important personal information in those files but i wanted to get into the habit of doing things securely from the start. A great resource i used to learn how to do these things properly was the YouTube channel TraversyMedia.
